What this calculator does

Provides an ellipsoid volume estimate for ovarian and testicular measurements.

Choose the organ and enter length, width, and height in the displayed units.

Clinical scope

Use this tool to estimate right and left ovarian or testicular volume from three orthogonal ultrasound dimensions. It is a geometric measurement aid, not a diagnostic classification.

Applicability and exclusions

  • Do not combine dimensions from different planes or examinations.
  • Irregular masses, postoperative anatomy, large cysts, and distorted organs may not be represented well by an ellipsoid approximation.

Method and calculation logic

Select the organ and enter three perpendicular dimensions for each side. The calculator applies its organ-specific ellipsoid coefficient and returns volume in milliliters.

Estimated volume = length × width × height × organ-specific coefficient

Interpretation table

OutputInterpretation
Right volumeGeometric estimate for the right gonad
Left volumeGeometric estimate for the left gonad
Side-to-side differenceDescribe with age, pubertal status, symptoms, and morphology

Worked example

Case: Fictional example: three perpendicular dimensions are recorded for each testis on the same ultrasound examination.

Calculation: Select testis, enter dimensions in the displayed units, and calculate both sides with the same method.

Interpretation: Report the estimated volumes with the formula or coefficient used and correlate any asymmetry with morphology and clinical context.

How to use this calculator

  1. Complete the visible imaging and measurement fields. Required inputs are marked in the workbench.
  2. Review the calculated category, score, measurements, and any recommendation or warning.
  3. Copy the report-ready text only after checking the result against the complete examination and source guideline.

Calculator-specific questions

Is an estimated volume a diagnosis?

No. Normal ranges vary with organ, age, pubertal or menopausal status, and technique.

Why should the same technique be used on both sides?

Using the same planes, units, and coefficient reduces artificial side-to-side differences.

Are patient measurements sent to RadPhrases?

No. Calculator inputs and results are processed in the browser and are not submitted by this page.
